RARE Large Lladro Seated Great Dane Dog Figurine 6558 Alvarez Retired 1998-2000
LARGE LLADRO "GREAT DANE" #6558 FIGURINE. The Spanish name for this piece is. This wonderful figurine depicts a great dane dog in a seated position. This figurine was sculpted by José Luis Alvarez and has a glaze finish. It was originally issued in 1998 and retired several years later in 2000. This Lladro figurine is very large. It stands about 18 1/2" tall and measures approximately 10 3/8" wide and 8 1/2 deep. The underside of the base has the current Lladro mark that was first used in 1990. I do NOT have the original box. If you're not already familiar with the Lladro company, it was founded during the 1950's in Valencia, Spain by three brothers. Juan, Jose, and Vicente Lladro created their own formula for porcelain paste and refined the production process. After studying at the Valencia School of Arts & Crafts, they started producing figurines in a backyard kiln and are now famous for creating some of the best porcelain in the world. Their style is unmistakable and their figurines are prized by collectors worldwide. Condition of this Lladro figurine is EXCELLENT with no chips, cracks, or crazing.
